White Crosses
This song is my tribute to the names on the White Crosses that stand on the corner of Paris and Brady in Greater Sudbury. It tells the story of a couple bound by addiction, but also by care for one another. It’s not a happy song, yet it underscores something essential: the quiet, universal power of noticing and valuing others’ lives.
Peace Instead
Enjoy this tribute, not for the fallen soldiers but for the various survivors—the physically, mentally, and culturally wounded. A friend's words inspired the song. He told me, "There was no such thing as a non-casualty in war." Thank you, Gary.
Thank you, Betty Silva, for your haunting backup vocals.
Moygara
This fictional account concerns an Irish castle near Monasteraden, Sligo, Ireland. In this song, I imagine a discussion involving two people just before the point of a siege. Caoimhe, a local woman, lives in the terror of the moment. She especially fears for the lives of those in her community. An unnamed authority figure cares little for Caoimhe and lives with visions of a glorious future in mind. Neither gets what they need.
I’ve Been Thinking About You
This theme song for the novel Nina was born out of the Ukraine-Russian War.
Nina is a novel for those who see beyond wars. It tells the gripping story of a Russian mother who takes up an offer from a Ukrainian commander to fetch her recently captured son. The song speaks to her fervour and determination.
